it's a well designed book and easy to read, informative, however truthfully...most, if not all, of the information in this book can easily be found online from a multitude of resources. I had to get this for my animation class and I never cracked the book open other than the one time when I read the introduction. I got an A+ in the class and a 95% on my final.

(don't really understand why there is such a simple and understated cover) Regardless, this book is AMAZING! If you are more interactive with reading the history, look up the films that they mention. I have this in my History of Animation class and it is a great book! It's in a bit of a strange order. If you love animation, read this and it will enhance it tons!

I like the coffee-table book size, and the text has plenty of detail. The year-by-year progression is an interesting way to organize the subject. However, whether it is to maintain an uncluttered design or to reduce the cost of securing image rights, there are too few sample images from the animation works in question. I use the book in an Animation class in college, and it is up to the task.

Great coffee table book! I actually got this book as it was an assigned textbook for a history of animation class for non-majors. Great pictures and is definitely a great thing to have!

Wider that it is deep, but it includes great international examples that are not included in other "Disney-centric" histories. Animations are grouped chronologically in eras of technical innovation, and indexed by year. Very Useful

My son loves this book. I just gave it to him for his 10th birthday. It's a huge hardback and has lots of gorgeous glossy pictures. He is really enjoying reading it.

Such a huge book, gorgeous and great quality. Didn't know I was an animated history need before I bought this book but I love it!
